Reiki

What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a gentle and safe non – intrusive healing technique that originates from Japan.
Reiki means ‘life force energy’ from the Japanese words Rei (Universal) and Ki (life energy.) It is not a form of faith healing; it is a totally non-denominational practice and is open to everybody.
A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful radiance flowing through the body.  Some people feel a tingling sensation, or a comforting warmth as the energy in the body is realigned.
Reiki treats the whole person, and balances on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
How Reiki works
A Reiki practitioner must be ‘attuned’ to the energetic frequency of Reiki before he/she can become a channel for Reiki.  The actual process is kept a secret until you are a Reiki Master, when the Reiki 3 student is taught the Master symbol and the attunement procedure for each of the 3 levels of Reiki.
The human energy field is made up of our aura, energy centres called chakras, and a range of energy channels flowing through the body called meridians.
When these energy fields are healthy, balanced, and open we feel healthy and happy, but if they become blocked we are vulnerable to stress and depression which can then lead to illness or disease.
Reiki flows through the energy fields, charging and restoring balance and harmony, and accelerates the body’s own natural ability to heal.
Reiki never does harm, it is a gentle form of healing and is beneficial for all known illnesses
A Reiki Treatment
The Client remains fully clothed, and the treatment is carried out whilst lying on a therapy couch.
I will place my hands on, or just above various parts of the body, usually around the body’s energy centres (or chakra’s) and channel  energy into the areas that need it.
During a treatment as energy blocks may be found and removed, the Client may feel different sensations – tingling or  warmth, coolness, experience long forgotten memories, see colours or even laugh or cry – but will always feel a deep relaxation and calm. The Reiki room is candle lit, with meditative and relaxing music, with incense burning to enhance the atmosphere and the sessions usually last for 1 hour. Some clients like to talk during a session, but many just close their eyes and totally relax (often falling asleep).
As the Reiki flows through the chakras, any imbalances and blockages are gently encouraged to be released, rebalancing the energy thereby promoting the body’s healing process.
